Tonight we attended a Court of Honor for Riley's Boy Scout Troop.  It's soo much fun to see the boys receive their merit badges and rank advancements.  Riley was awarded his Boy Scout rank (even though he has technically been a boy scout since his birthday in March) and also the Law Merit Badge.  They ended the evening with Root Beer Floats.  Yum!

Today was Ella's first day back to Pre-School.  She typically sleeps in fairly late, and even though we had to wake her up in the morning, as soon as she heard that it was time for school she was up and ready to go!  She seemed much older than her four little years.  When we got to her classroom, she said "Bye!" and she left to go play.  She had a great first day!

Summer seemed to fly by this year and school seems to start earlier every year!  Although I have to admit, I definitely was ready for school to be back in session and the structure it brings with it.

I know I say this every year, but the when I take the kids pictures in the morning before they go to school, it seems like they have grown literally overnight!!  This year Riley is going into sixth grade - his last year in Elementary School.  Ciara is going into third.  She looked totally adorable with her hair curled.  We absolutely love both of their teachers!

My kids often don't get along.  Especially Riley and Ciara.  I don't know if its the three year age difference or that the fact that one is a boy the other is a girl.  My sister and I didn't really get along either so I don't know why this behavior surprises me.

Every once in a while though, they remind me why I wanted more than one child.  Like this cute card that Ciara made for her brother when he stayed home sick from school.

* The second page says "Now that you are sick, I would love to help you."  (It was too big to fit on my scanner and I was too lazy to piece it together)

If you check in here at fivejordans.com every once in a while you may have noticed a definite lack of updates.  I had all these great plans for 2010.  Christmas was great.  We had two wonderful early St Louis Christmas celebrations.  One with the St Louis Jordans and another with the Ziegler clan.   Clair's dad joined us and we hopped on a plane and took a family vacation to Las Vegas where we celebrated Christmas with my sister Danielle, her husband and three kids.

This of course meant that all the Christmas stuff needed to get done early because of our trip.  Well.....not everything got done.  I addressed Christmas cards to everyone, but didn't get them in the mail.  I had planned to send out a "Recap of 2009" letter.  Well, that didn't happen either.  We returned home from Las Vegas, Chris returned to work, my father returned to England and the kids returned to school.  Suddenly after a month of being surrounded by family and friends, everyone was gone!  To top it off, our entire family started sharing one bug or another and it seemed like someone was always sick.

Just when I thought maybe things were looking up and I was coming out of my funk - I got the sad news, that on Jan 16th, my last living grandparent, my grandmother had passed away.  On top of the normal grief of losing a loved one, my sister and I had the stress of trying to figure out if we could make it to England or not for the funeral.  To make a long story short, we tried to go, but an expired passport for me, and a misspelled name on a document for my sister, meant we couldn't go.  I will try to write a little about her when the mention of her name doesn't reduce to me to tears.
