June 20th, 2009 - Network Solutions "Roxopalooza"
Every year at Chris's company they have an annual family picnic. This year it was once again at Freedom Farm in Illinois. They have many traditions, such as Beer Pong, Egg Toss and of course Soak Your Supervisor.
Soak Your Supervisor is a big favorite with the Network Solutions Technical Support Team. This "game" consists of Chris (The Technical Support Manager) in a dunk tank with all those that report to him armed with baseballs. One person that does not work for him and shall remain un-named, (his name starts with R and his last name is Jordan) is usually the first in line.
So up Chris went into the "Hot Seat." Except that it wasn't hot. In fact, even though the dunk tank had been out in the sun for several hours, the water was freezing cold. First one up the un-named one. (His throw is much improved this year.) He throws, hits the target and immediately plunges Chris into aforementioned ice cold water. This is repeated by every person that even remotely reports to Chris that is in attendance. The un-named one jumps into the line every chance he gets I might add.
I thought Chris was a great sport. He had fun with it and was heckling his coworkers and making jokes.
Later that day after lunch and some time by the lake, he decided to participate in the Egg Toss. This game consists of teams of two, that stand across from each other. One tosses an egg to the other who has to catch it without it breaking. The stand progressively farther and farther away from each other until only one team remains. Chris and his partner (not me, I hate raw egg!!) won the game and each recieved a Visa card loaded with $25!
All in all a fun day - Thank you Network Solutions Culture Committee!
